Ireland put up a terrific performance against England to secure a four all draw in their final training game before departing to Argentina for the world cup qualifier which takes place from the 14th- 22nd November..

The first half of the match remained scoreless but was highly entertaining with end to end play from both sides. England took the lead in the 40th minute with a deflected shot from a hard driven cross. But it didn’t take Ireland long to respond and they replied just two minutes later with a well taken drag flick from Conor Harte. England took the lead once again in the 48th minute when they pounced and buried a rebound shot which came off Keeper Walker’s pads. But once again Ireland were ready with an answer just two minutes later when they once again responded through a set piece drag flick but this time from Alan Sothern.

Just a minute later Sothern secured his brace through his trade drag flick, low to the right, to take the lead for the first time at 3-2. England responded in the 58th minute with the penalty corner from drag flick to go three all. Ireland took the advantage for the second time in the 65th minute when Caruth and Cargo dispossessed the English defence inside the 23 meter line and interchanged for Caruth to round the keeper and tap home for Ireland’s 4th goal. England never let up and found their equaliser with just a minute to go when a penalty corner afforded Mantel the opportunity to drag flick home for England to equalise four all.

Ireland return home this evening before departing for the World Cup Qualifiers on Monday 9th November
