Draws for Scottish Hockey’s annual youth inter-districts competitions are now out with the girls’ event taking place 7-8 November and the boys’ competition 14-15 November, both at Peffermill Playing Fields in Edinburgh.
Scottish Hockey Performance Manager Callum McLeod said: “The inter-districts competition is a major event for national coaches to pick top youth talent in Scotland. Players will have gone through district training and trials prior to the inter-districts, so it showcases the best youth players in Scotland..
The inter-districts competition hosts U16 and U18 girls’ and boys’ teams from districts throughout Scotland. All seven of the girls’ districts (East, South, Midland, Highland, West, North, and South West) are participating in both age groups. And the U16 boys host their total of five districts (East, West, North, Midland and Highland) while Highlands is the only area missing from the U18 boys due to lack of numbers.
The girls are following a new format this year to mirror FIH and EHF tournament formats to give a more competitive edge. Pool 1 matches will be 15 minutes each way and pool 2 matches 20 minutes each way on day one. And final day matches will all be 25 minutes each way. The boys’ event follows the same format as years past with two 30 minute halves both days.
The tournaments run from approximately 9:00 till 17:30 and are free of charge.
