On the last day of the 2009 BDO Junior World Cup, Australia and Germany played for 5th and 6th place. The beginning of the match was evenly played. Kate Jenner scored for Australia in the 13th minute, off their first penalty corner of the match. For the rest of the first half, Australia dominated possession of the ball and went up 2-0 courtesy of a Jill Dwyer penalty corner goal in the 28th minute. Continuing their attacking pressure, Australia made it 3-0 with a field goal by #11 Emily Hurtz in the 31st minute. After starting out the half a bit sluggish, Germany’s #25 Celine Wilde scored in the 34th minute; ending the half with Australia ahead of Germany 3-1.

In the second half, Germany picked up speed and #24 Eva Frank scored in the 47th minute to make it 3-2. Australia, however, would not see their lead diminish and went up 4-2 a minute later on another goal by Jill Dwyer. In the 56th minute, Emily Hurtz scored her second goal of the match to increase Australia’s lead over Germany to 5-2. Germany kept up the pressure, but fell to Australia 2-5.
