The match between England and Australia was a battle between the [current] top two spots in Pool E. England began the match in full control and on the attack. After getting on the board first when #14 Harriet Pearce sent a drag flick off a penalty corner in the 8th minute, it looked like the match was England's. However, the Jillaroos stayed strong and showed why they may also be the one to beat from Pool E. After they were unable to convert a penalty corner in the 20th minute, Australia's #26 Danielle Schubach put in a beautiful field goal to tie the match 1-1. England had a penalty corner in the final minute, but could not convert; leaving the second half to be another battle between these two formidable opponents. Contrary to the first half, the second half began with Australia controlling the flow of the match. Throughout the second half, Australia dominated. Despite multiple penalty corner opportunities and the attacking advantage, Australia could not manage another score. England did not let up and nearly capitalized on one of their few attacking chances off the second half off a penalty corner in the 65th minute. Yet, England's shot, following this corner play, was brilliantly saved by Australia's #19 Kate Jenner. Thus, England was fortunate to hang on to the 1-1 draw with Australia; and with time expired, piled on the pitch to celebrate winning the top Pool E spot.
