Kingston upon Hull HC may have to move

Hull's leading amateur hockey club is facing uncertainty following the announcement of plans to revamp facilities at the KC Stadium.

The club came into being after the merger of several clubs and Kingston upon Hull Hockey Club moved to the stadium when it first opened in 2002. Since then the club has used two outdoor pitches for training and matches. Now the club, which runs 20 junior and senior teams, could be forced to move if plans to replace a sand-based pitch with a synthetic one get the go-ahead.

The plans include proposals to install an air dome over the new synthetic pitch during the winter. According to the club the new pitch may not be suitable for competitive hockey. At the moment both pitches are fully used by the club and taking one away would almost certainly mean they would have to move elsewhere.
