21. August, EM in Mönchengladbach, Women: Azerbaijan– Italy 5:3 (3:1)
20.08.2011 - One day after the 0:8 loss against the Netherlands, Azerbaijan won its match against Italy 5:3. The goals of the favorite were scored by Zhang Suleymanova (23. minute/7-meter), Boram Kim (29.), Myungsoon Mammadova (35.), Hawe Lee (37.) and Mi Seon Aliyeva (42.). Italian player Alessia Padaloni scored one goal by a seven meter (30.) and another one after a good combination in the 49th minute.
The last goal of the match was scored by Macarena Ronsisvalli after a short corner near the end of the match. Especially after the break, the favorites played powerfully against Italy. The Italian defense seemed to be disappointed by fast combinations of their opponents. Three Azerbaijani goals in seven minutes were the result. After the victory, the East European team has got hopes of reaching the Semi-Final next Thursday were raised.
