22. August, GANT EHC in Mönchengladbach, Men: England – Netherlands 3:4 (1:1)
22.08.2011 - In an high quality game with fast combinations the English and the winning Dutch team underlined their top favourite role inside the Gant EuroHockey Championships. The Dutch team won 4:3 (1:1). In the first minutes, Billy Bakker from the Netherlands scored the first goal of the match.
The Oranje-team had not more opportunities to score, but the better ones. Inspite of Matt Daly scored the equalizer, before the halftime whistle. After the break the pre-decision seemed to happen. Taeke Taekema converted a penalty shot and again Bakker scored, after a well performed combination.
England seemed to be a little bit impressed, so the Dutch became the better team. Surprisingly Iain Mackay scored to get one back. He and his teammates hoped to come back into the game. But Billy Bakker scored his third goal, only a few minutes later. Ashley Jackson got one back again, but this was not enough to beat the Dutch team finally.
