GANT EuroHockey Championships Men: Spain - Russia 5:0 (2:0)
20.08.2011 - In the last game of the opening day of the GANT Eurohockey Championships tournament one of the favorites, Spain defeated Russia clearly with 5:0 (2:0).
The players of Coach Daniel Martin were superior from the start of the game and laid the foundation for success in the first half, as Pau Quemada with two converted penalty corners shot out to a 2-0 lead. The Spaniards had other great chances by Quemada, Santi Freixa and Alex Fabregas, but they forgave all negligent. After halftime did not change much in the game. Spain acted impressively and repeatedly benefited from the Russians lost balls, which were then used to fast counter attacks.
Again, a superior corner by Quemada and a deflection by Roc Oliva screwed up the result quickly to 4:0. After then, the Russians even created a good chance by Pavel Golubev, but his shot was saved by Spanish Keeper Cortes of Spain (49.). In the end Manel Terrace provided the final score for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Second when hi finished a magnificent solo with a backhand flick.
